Ebook About An Enemies to LoversShifter, Vampire True Mates story.Justice Volkov is the youngest Alpha Zenith to ever lead the wolf shifters. Following in his father’s large paw prints was a responsibility he met head on. Now at age thirty-three, he is alpha of the alphas. As a direct descendant of the original Siberian pack, his wolf is bigger and stronger than Justice, himself is sometimes able to control. His wolf howled long and hard but Justice kept it inside. It felt like a bass drum beating against his rib cage. The harsh breaths, angry snarls and the determined pacing inside him was overtaking him.Justice takes his role of leadership and his legacy very seriously. He has little time for romance, not to mention a true mate. His packs are his priority. With a human government trying to regulate them, an uprising of rogue shifters, and a violent team of scientists trying to experiment on them, Justice has his hands way too full. Chadwick ‘Wick’ Bentley is not enthusiastic when the captain of his escort tells him he has to leave his comfortable London home and go back to the States. As the Vampire King, he has no choice but to get his species back in line before they cause anymore chaos. At over one-hundred years old, Wick is no one to trifle with, but his smooth, charismatic manner makes him quite unique, despite the negative reputation vampires have. Wick has had nothing but time up to this point. He doesn’t feel the need to make issues pressing. Nothing is urgent in his life. Until he meets Justice. His beloved.“Natural enemies can’t be mates.” Or so Justice thought. He knows his skepticism and rejection is hurting his mate, so while he fights their connection, Wick gets help from a source very close to Justice to help him win his beloved’s heart. Wick is a force all on his own, but when he’s blessed with a special gift from the Mother herself, not even Justice’s powerful wolf can prevent the prophesy from being fulfilled. This story DOES NOT contain/mention MPREG. No multiple pairings. No cliffhangers. It ends with a very HFN. Warning: This book is MM paranormal: If you DO NOT like hot, alpha men shifting into large wolves, or vampires feeding from their mates, this may not be your read.Book Prophesy (The King and Alpha Series Book 1) Review :
I have read most of A.e Via's books and I am excited that she is doing a paranormal series. Things I enjoyed about this book: 1) I liked all the charcters (Henry being my favorite). They were all very fleshed out and relatable. 2) the Siberian bloodline was very cool. 3) I always prefer a book with both MC's point of view and this had it. Things that bothered me: 1) Wick starts off as a strong character but after he mates Justice he sort of wilts. He is apparently the leader of all vampires and in the beginning he fits that role but slowly he turns into a almost bad "wife" role; merely there to support his man. He always submits sexually to Justice and he frankly gets a bit silly. I was honestly thrown by this, Via usually has both MC's be very strong individuals even after they get together. 2) the typos. A few times there is a wrong word. There are also times were the sentence was past tense and there is a random present tense word in it. It throws you out of the story a bit. 3) Somethings are not explained enough. Examples: vampire hierarchy ( there's a court but Wick doesn't live there, why? Why doesn't it follow him?), vampires are considered weaker (again why? Do werewolves not have any weaknesses? What exactly are the general vampire populations powers?), same with werewolves the exact hierarchy is never fully explained beyond this is a alpha, they are strong ( what about omegas and betas, how are they treated, where are they?), finally why exactly are vampires and werewolves supposedly close to being enemies ( besides one is awake during daytime and one night). I wish she had gone deeper into the world building. 4) it was honestly a bit anticlimactic. Things would build up then fall a little short for me. However, this is a good first book for a new genre. It has massive potential. I will be getting the next book and am excited to see how Bell and Arik do together. I was really enjoying this book up until about 1/3 in. The world building was pretty good, both the main characters were strong and seemed well rounded. And the plot was fine if not particularly original. However, once Wick and Justice got together, it turned into a long slog. Wick lost all semblance of his former strength, becoming just a side character in his own kingdom. Honestly, if I was a vampire in this world, I'd ask someone else to take over from him, it was that bad. The plot disappeared in favor of a LOT of sex scenes. And when I say it disappeared, I mean that literally. Everything was just shoved to the side with a few sentences or paragraphs.Minor spoilers here but, for example, the rebellious shifters were defeated in about 5 minutes with Justice taking out almost literally the entire evil pack in one demonstration of power. (Wick did get a brief moment here to shine on his own.) Then the other evil that had to be confronted, the humans and their research facility, were handled completely off screen with a summary of something like "It went fine, no one was hurt". The 2 MCs didn't even participate in the takedown! They were too busy driving cross country to their new home to get some more shagging done.I was just really disappointed overall. The vampires were weak (it's stated that all shifters in their wolf form can beat all vampires), the Vampire King is just Tammy Wynette singing Stand By Your Man and the plot didn't get any attention. Will not be buying book 2.
